Pamela :
Do you think producers tell the people on reality shows what to say or what to do? For the most part I think it’s real and unscripted but occasionally it seems written. Example would be on one of the episodes of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami. In the final episode Scott was sitting on the bed holding one of his sons shoes and crying. That scene seemed like they told Scott to do that. I don’t know, just wondering what people think.

There are a few moments where things are staged (like the reactions shots in the huge lines in American Idol). However, most of the stuff flows the way it does due to the editing. That’s where most of the ‘television magic’ happens. It is the editing that plays a huge part in how you feel towards certain people on the shows.
Not all of them but for the ones like Kourtney and Khloe, they most definitely are. There wouldn’t be anything worth watching if they didn’t vamp it up a bit. The episode where Kourtney burns Khloe’s private parts while giving her a hot wax, fake as anything. Cake Boss is another one. There was a scene where one of the bakers was decorating a cake tower. I noticed the icing was messy and the cake was disturbed under it. Then he knocked it over and the top portion flew off. I wonder how many times they rehearsed that scene to get the cake to fall just right.
